VIP Announces 2014 Women in Technology Scholarship (WITS) Recipients

FOLSOM, Calif. – Visionary Integration Professionals (VIP), a leading technology solutions provider, today announced the recipients of its seventh annual Women in Technology Scholarship (WITS) program. The national scholarship competition, which supports women seeking a career in computer science, information technology (IT), management information systems, and other related fields, will award a total of $18,000 for the 2014 academic year.

After receiving more than 250 applications, VIP has selected 12 highly-qualified women to receive scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,500. The awards will go toward tuition at several accredited colleges and universities across the U.S.

“We asked students to identify an IT problem in their community and recommend a solution,” said Dawn Johnson, WITS co-chair. “The responses to this incredibly important question seem to get more creative and thoughtful every year. These women are truly talented, which is what makes supporting their educational goals so rewarding.”

Award winners were chosen based on academic performance, involvement in community service and extracurricular activities, demonstrated leadership experience, and essay responses. This year’s winners include:
